Hello everyone, It’s been a really good two months hasn’t it? The site has been growing, and my articles have really been hitting the mark. I’m pretty proud of that, and I’m humbled by some of you asking if I’d be putting out any published material.
But enough about me, lets talk about the site.
First things first, you’ll notice that this is a Friday, and there’s no new article. The reason for this is simple. Originally, I wanted Friday’s to be a day for me to write about whatever nonsense was on my mind that week. Unfortunately, forcing myself to do these weekly doesn’t seem to be producing the sort of quality content I’d like to be putting out. So, I’ll be putting out Friday Articles whenever I feel they’re done and worth your time to read. An example of what sort of work I wanna strive for consistently is my article on The Role of Race in 5e, which had people talking and discussing it for days afterwards. Not everybody agreed with me, and that’s great!
Now, this only means the Friday articles won’t be weekly. But the good news is that I can put even more time into A Sense of Immersion which everyone seems to be really happy with.
That brings us to our next update, which is something people are not happy with. That would be how the site looks. It’s a little bland and a little basic, but its about to change. Y’see, with the help of the beautiful people who support me on Patreon and a little money from my own pocket, I’m going to be locking down the domain of the site, and updating the theme. This includes new art. Now, this is going to take a bit of time, so that I know I’m getting it right. For now, the site looks fine, and is readable. But within the month of may, we will be seeing a massive update, and things will look much more beautiful and clean.
I will not be changing my logo however, as Connor Welch did a fucking fantastic job on it, and captured exactly what I needed on his first try. Seriously, he’s fresh on the scene, but he does good work and is super sweet. Plus, I think he’s still doing a few free commissions if you get over to his Twitter quick enough.
Now for the final update, which is super exciting.
I’m going to be publishing my first Adventure!
To be 100% honest with you, I’m very excited about this project. It’s not only going to be a fun adventure, it’ll be weird and detailed, and it’ll have a good amount of tools and mechanics that I hope will inspire countless GMs.
It’s also going to be system agnostic. This means the person running the adventure will have to make a few rulings here and there, but the detail I’m putting in to each monster and location will make it easy to run, from 5e to the OSR.
The art style will be focused on easy printing, and light on the illustrations (though there will be a map). I love good art in my adventures, but I like printer ink more, and I think you’ll all agree with me. If people like the adventure, maybe I could do something in the future with more color art.
Again, I want to thank my wonderful editor Helen, who does this for me for absolutely nothing but compliments, and has made my stream of consciousness presentable.
I also want to thank you. Those who share my articles, those who give me feedback, those who recommend new monsters, and especially those who find it in their hearts to support me on Patreon.
I’m giving this my all. Because this isn’t my hobby. This is my work as a Game Master.
And I couldn’t be more happy to have you all at my table.
