Hey there! Michael here yet again. Been a while, right? I just wanted to share a fun little contest I was apart of, and I figured after voting was done I was clear to throw my entry onto the site.
Sorry for being gone for a while, doing a bit of Job Hunting and a bit of Soul Searching, but I’m sure I’ll be back when the time is right!
PS. The Spelljammer crew beat Strahd and saved the captain. So yay for that.
So the contest was about creating a Micro-RPG. This means a full set of tabletop RPG rules within just 200 words. Sounds impossible, right? Well apparently not.
What follows is my entry, which won 1st place in Mechanics, and 11th overall. I’m sharing it because I’m quite proud, not out of an attempt to brag.
NEEDED: (2-6) CREATIVE PLAYERS; (6-12) INDEX CARDS; (4) d6’s
THE SUN turned a bright violet and promptly exploded, leading to PSIONIC RADIATION changing the world.
You are MUTANTS who use PSIONIC POWERS to explore MELTING SKYSCRAPERS, CLOTH OCEANS and ALUMINUM DESERTS.
The mental and physical challenges will unmake you.
Try to REMEMBER Yourself.
Create your CHARACTERS
1. Describe your physical MUTATION in two or less sentences.
2. Decide your PSIONIC POWERS, represented by a single word.
3. Draw your character fully onto an INDEX CARD.
The WEIRDEST PLAYER describes an incredible scene that the characters must survive.
This continues clockwise, After everyone has gone, the CHARACTERS take a break and are safe.
Then it continues. Until somebody finally puts a stop to it.
To do something risky, roll 2d6 to hit 8 or up. If your MUTATION or PSIONIC POWERS assist you, toss an extra d6 for each.
If you fail, you get HURT and CUT an EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE from your INDEX CARD. (Starting with a corner is recommended)
While in a safe place, you can try to REMEMBER. It’s hard, so much of you is lost. Try your best to redraw yourself, changing your MUTATION or PSIONIC POWERS accordingly.
